Kara is one of the founding partners of Duncan Allen Law LLP and focuses exclusively in the area of family law. Kara prides herself on her ability to provide realistic and practical solutions for her clients. While she can regularly be found in the courtroom assisting clients with navigating the often daunting and complicated legal system, she is also a major advocate of out-of-court resolutions by way of negotiation, mediation and other collaborative options. She appreciates the emotional and financial strain the breakdown of a family can have on a couple and their children and strives to resolve matters while minimizing conflict wherever possible. She takes care of business, so you can focus on your future.

Kara was born and raised on Vancouver Island and that has instilled in her a great appreciation of both community and nature. When she’s not in the office, Kara loves spending time with her family. They enjoy relaxing at the beach, canoeing at the lake, hiking in the woods, and camping with friends.

Kara is dedicated to giving back to the community she was raised in. Some of her favourite causes to support are the local SPCA, CIBC Run for the Cure, and the Nanaimo & District Minor Fastball Association, which her and Laura have sponsored together for the last two years.

“It is a privilege to help and guide people who are going through what is often the roughest period of their lives. The trust and vulnerability my client’s show me is never taken lightly. It is extremely rewarding to collaborate with my client to achieve a practicable and workable solution to their family breakdown so that they can move forward with their lives.”

Meet Lulu

Meet Lulu.

Lulu comes into work a few days a week with her mom, Kara Duncan. She loves to welcome clients into the Duncan Allen office and make them feel comfortable. She has a very calm demeanor and holds a degree in Manners and Obedience from Sal Pacific Canine Obedience School. She aspires to be a therapy dog and is currently pursuing her certification as a Therapeutic Visitation Animal.

When she’s not lifting the spirits of everyone who comes through our front door or investigating her coworker’s lunches, Lulu enjoys spending time at home with her siblings Jerry the cat and Herbie the turtle. Rolling in soft grass and eating salmon is her favourite.
