Originally from Yellowknife, NT, Brittany was won over by the west coast after moving here for law school in 2010. Brittany was a Child Protection Worker in Yellowknife before attending law school. She approaches her work with compassion, empathy and cultural sensitivity. She is trained in anti-oppressive and client-centered practice.
Brittany did the majority of her articles at a free legal clinic in Victoria, BC called the Law Centre. She subscribes to the Law Centre’s holistic approach to lawyering. This approach looks beyond the individual’s legal issues to assist them in accessing appropriate resources and supports in the community.
Brittany comes from circumstances of poverty and was brought up in a non-traditional family setting. She credits this experience for giving her a capacious understanding of the concept of family. She is a conscientious advocate who is comfortable with high conflict situations. She has excellent interpersonal skills, especially when dealing with individuals facing mental health and addiction challenges.
Brittany loves crafting, popcorn and long hikes. She lives with her husband, who is a musician, and their two dogs, Libby and Gigi.
Meet Libby and Gigi.
Libby is the red head. She is eight years old and sleeps about 16 hours a day – I aspire to be more like her. Gigi is deaf. She is three years old and is our strong-willed child. She is whip smart. Both pups have come a long way since we rescued them years ago.
